Flight Attendants

Women Flying Free

In the 1960s, a woman employed as a flight attendant was seen as glamourous and free-spirited. The changes to their uniforms reflected this change in attitude.

Prior to the 60s and in the early part of the decade, flight attendant uniforms were military styled and were obviously uniforms. Beginning in the mid-to-late 60s, their uniforms became more stylish and reflected the ease of movement of the time.
