“look at that soul
I tell you, the whole
Is a whole lot greater than
The sum of his parts”

--Roxie Hart, “Funny Honey”, Chicago

Let me tell you a little about myself.

I found theatre when I was in college. I decided to audition for the local summer musicals and was bitten by the bug . . . hard. From then on, theatre became my hobby, my work, my family, and my friends, my home and my escape. It is woven into my soul.

I did whatever job needed to be done, just to stay involved. I worked onstage, backstage, front of house, and everywhere else. I earned my Bachelor’s degree in theatre and went on to study further and earned my MFA in Directing, while working to start a performance company and juggling family life.

I took a break for a few years to focus on family life, but even then I taught children’s classes in drama and musical theatre at a dance studio. While there, I formed a children’s troupe that competed throughout the Southeast.

I came back to theatre as a performer, director, scenic painter, costumer, and teacher. I helped establish another non-profit theatre organization and moved into producing and playwriting.

My “parts” have come from the classroom, from the rehearsal hall, from the costume and scene shops, from my work with a contractor flipping houses, from nurturing relationships, and from being unafraid to try things I’ve never tried before.

My goal has always been to approach every project on a professional level, no matter how large or small, and to return the favor of everyone who has taught me over the years by passing on their knowledge and my own to the next generation of artists.
